Police: Man in Custody for Attempting to Burglarize Mohegan Lake House

Police arrested a 17-year-old teen from the Bronx after he tried to burglarize a Mohegan Lake house Wednesday night, police said today.
Rafael Toribio smashed the rear sliding glass door of a Winding Court residence at approximately 2 a.m. on Dec. 15. Officers Kenneth Sgroi, Paul Grieve, Matthew Iacona and Sgt. Gary Fister responded to the scene after police received a call from the victim.
Toribio used a chair to break the door in an attempt to enter the house and steal property. He was taken in custody as he was leaving the property. The man is a resident of Phoenix Academy, an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center in Yorktown, police said.

The teen was processed at police headquarters and charged with second-degree attempted burglary, and third-degree criminal mischief, both felony charges. He was remanded to the Westchester County jail on $5,000 bail and is due in court tonight at 6 p.m.
