Queens Man Accused Of Stealing Cash, Checks From Car In Yorktown
Police said that $42,000 in cash and $10,000 in payroll checks were stolen from the victim's car which was parked outside a business.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Queens resident was accused of thousands of dollars in cash and payroll checks from a car.
The Yorktown Police Department said Oscar Javier Barrera Pena, 46, of Jamaica, was arrested and charged Friday with second-degree grand larceny, a felony.
Authorities said, shortly before 3:30 p.m. Oct. 15, police were called to a business on Saw Mill River Road to investigate a theft.

The victim told police that $42,000 in cash and $10,000 in payroll checks were stolen from his car, which was parked in the parking lot of the business.
An investigation by officers and detectives identified a suspect and an associated vehicle that were involved in the theft.

Around 6 p.m. Friday, officers from the Colony Police Department in the Albany area stopped the vehicle associated with the Yorktown theft.
Police said one of the car’s occupants — Pena — was identified as the suspect from the larceny.
He was taken into custody by Colony police and then turned over to Yorktown officers.
Pena was processed on the charge and arraigned, after which he was sent to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail, $125,000 bond or $250,000 partially secured bond.
He is scheduled to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court Nov. 10.
