Update: Several Inches of Snow Falls in Yorktown, Somers

- Yorktown, Lakeland and Somers Central Schools are closed Friday.
- All after school and evening activities are canceled including Westchester Community College classes.
- Yorktown Head Start is closed.
- Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES is closed.
The flakes should be finished by 4 p.m. Friday, but not before another one to three inches are on the ground, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will likely hit a high of 38 degrees.
Cloudy skies Friday night, and a low of about 23 degrees, will give way to a sunny Saturday and temperatures in the low to mid 40s, the agency reports.

Yorktown and Somers will likely see a fresh blanket of snow when Friday morning arrives.
Reports from the National Weather Service call for two to four inches to fall Thursday night, with temperatures slated to hit a low of 31 degrees. The snow could continue into Friday, leaving another inch or two on the ground before 12 p.m.
No snow is expected Friday night, and Saturday should be mostly sunny, with temperatures in the mid to high-40s.
No cancellations or delays are listed on the Yorktown, Lakeland and Somers school districts' websites at this time.

The New York area is expected to feel the effects of a Nor'Easter that has already hit parts of the Midwest.
By Friday, new snow accumulation in Yorktown and Somers could amount to 2 to 5 inches, according to reports from the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service predicts three days of rain, sleet and mostly snow well into March 8. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Westchester County from 6 p.m. March 6 to 6 p.m. March 7.
Heavy, wet snow combined with high, gusty winds could lead to downed branches and power lines. Accumulating snow on the roads could lead to difficult travel conditions and motorists are urged to use caution.
