Missed something in Yorktown? Here is a rundown of the news in town from Monday, September 13 to Sunday September 19.

Monday, September 13

In football, Mahopac beat Yorktown, in a game where the Huskers quarterback Justin Mabus got injured during the second quarter. A suspicious baggage briefly closed the main terminal at the Westchester County airport and caused minor delays. The Lakeland girls soccer team got ready to start their season. If you were still doing your back-to-school shopping, we had some fashion tips that would not break your budget. The Yorktown Grange Fair had just finished, so we had another photo gallery from the fun-filled event. We had a primary primer with everything you needed to know before casting your vote the next day.

Tuesday, September 14

In case you missed the fair, it was more than just livestock and a Ferris wheel, the 86th year of the Yorktown Grange Fair was fun for everyone. The town proceeded with the annual insurance review process, where three brokers were selected to proceed with comprehensive quotes. Athletes from Lakeland and Yorktown faced off sat the Huskers annual girls volleyball tournament. On election day, voters reflected on their experience. Wednesday, September 15

As we followed the primary election races, Greg Ball won the GOP primary in the 40th district NYS Senate race. Nan Hayworth declared victory in the primary Republican 19th Congressional District. in the race for the 99th Assembly District. We brought you Tuesday's unofficial election results. Despite minor glitches in the voting systems, residents said they would need time to adjust. Democratic candidate for the 99th AD seat, Brendan Tully unveiled a small business tax credit and called it the "Mom and Pop Tax Credit."

Thursday, September 16

A Yorktown man was shot in the head Wednesday and was discovered by his wife. Neighbors said he and his family were normal and described them as a "beautiful family." While the police was investigating, they reassured residents this was not a random murder, but rather the man was targeted and it appeared to be for personal reasons. After three opportunities to satisfy the terms of an affordable housing lawsuit – and three rejections by a federal monitor – Westchester may have run out of chances, as the federal government might step in to mandate affordable housing.

Friday, September 17

Town will proceed with the purchase of the 200-acre Granite Knolls property for open space, but not without some controversy. Saturday, September 18

Sunday, September 19
