World Nutella Day, Open Mic, Energy Expo and More

Here are five things you need to know today through the weekend.

1. First Friday Open Mic

 The Yorktown Teen Center is sponsoring their tenth open mic with the collaboration of the Justin Veatch Fund tonight at 6:30 p.m. There are 13 acts lined up with a special guest appearance by Dan Coutant who is from Joshua. There is a $5 cover (donation), and people are encouraged to bring non-perishable food for the Yorktown Food Pantry. Open mic will take place at the Nutrition Center at the YCCC. 2. World Nutella Day

You might not love chocolate as much as I do or Nutella may not be as popular in your house as it is in mine, but Saturday, Feb. is World Nutella Day. For more than 400 Nutella-inspired recipes, click here. My personal favorite is crepes filled with Nutella. What's yours? 

3. Scout Week Discounted Skiing

Have you not had enough snow? Do you love the outdoor?   at Thunder Ridge Ski Area ends this Sunday, Feb. 6. Discounted rates for scouts and their families with scout ID are available. For more information, call 845-878-4100 ext. 301. 

4. Home Staging & Decorating 

We started our first column about and today we'll be introducing a new column about open houses to be shown to the public this weekend. So how do you prepare your house for sale? On Saturday at 10 a.m. the Ossining Public Library will about "the secrets to staging a quick-selling home."

5. Energy Expo

The will be held at the Somers High School on Saturday, Feb. 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be more than 50 booths and exhibits, introductory and in-depth talks, demonstrations and workshops, student workshops, experiments, shows and activities, healthy and sustainable food choices.
