Yorktown Boy Scouts Shave Heads, Raise $2,300 for Childhood Cancer
A total of 16 scouts and three adult leaders joined in at the Grace Lutheran Church in Yorktown to have their heads shaved.
Yorktown boy scout Brendan Byrnes, 13, enlisted the help of his friends at Troop 174 to help him raise money for childhood cancer by shaving their heads.
He got his inspiration to organize a St. Baldrick's head shaving event after seeing pictures of a similar event. Despite the snow on Monday, a total of 16 scouts and three adult leaders joined in at the Grace Lutheran Church in Yorktown to have their heads shaved.
They raised more than $2,300 and more contributions are coming in. To make a donation, visit their website.

Brendan's father Kevin Byrnes said when the boy scouts heard of the idea, they immediately volunteers to shave their heads.
"This spurred some of the adult leaders to join in the fun," he said.
