Yorktown Celebrates Hanukkah By Lighting Menorah
Rabbi Yehuda Heber of Chabad of Yorktown said it was beautiful to see the town alive with the spirit of Hanukkah.
YORKTOWN, NY — Chabad of Yorktown held its annual celebration of Hanukkah Sunday with the traditional menorah lighting.
The ceremony was held at the Jack DeVito Veterans Memorial Field & Track.
Rabbi Yehuda Heber of Chabad of Yorktown said Hanukkah is a time of joy and giving and is a time to celebrate the power of positivity, truth and justice.

“It’s beautiful to see the town alive with the spirit of Hanukkah and the spirit of unity,” he said.

Yorktown Supervisor Matt Slater said he always looks forward to the menorah lighting and hearing the story of the Maccabees and the importance of having perseverance, strength and faith when facing challenging times.

“Our community has indeed faced difficult times these past few years,” he said, “but we’ve stayed together, we’ve worked together, and we’ve overcome those challenges.”
