Yorktown High School Advances to Second Round of 'The Challenge'
Huskers will face off John Jay High School in the award-winning quiz show, airing on March 20.

Yorktown High School students have advanced to the second round of MSG Vasrity's "The Challenge" and will take on John Jay High School on Wednesday, March 20.
The high school is joined by 31 other schools from the Hudson Valley area as they progress through the Regional Rounds in trying to qualify for the Tri-State Championship Playoffs.
Olivia Recabo, Akhill Aniff, Aditya Duri (captain), Siddhartha Duri and (alternate) Maria Mavrommatis are representing the Yorktown High School team. Their academic advisors are Thomas Dyer and Amanda Guszack.

Participating schools advance through a series of elimination rounds, with one school in each region being crowned regional champion and winning $2,500 for their school. The winning teams from each region go on to “The Challenge” Championship where they square off in a Tri-State Showdown. The school awarded the title of Tri-State Champion will receive $10,000 in prize money and each student participating in the final “Challenge” Championship game will receive $500.

Host of “The Challenge” is Jared Cotter who is also a popular semi-finalist from American Idol. Cotter will serve as moderator, testing competing teams on their knowledge of history, arts and literature, current events, math, and science in front of a livestudio audience.
