Yorktown's Robert Perry was posthumously inducted into the second annual Veterans' Hall of Fame, which was created by Senator Greg Ball and designed to honor outstanding veterans. Perry, who worked for the town of Yorktown's parks and recreation department and the highway department, was born in Vermont in September of 1923. He passed on May 29, 2009. He served in the United States Army, 7th Cavalry for two years and 10 months, achieving the rank of Technician 5th Grade. During his service, the man earned the Silver Star, the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, the Philippines Liberation Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal.
