3-Hour SWAT Standoff Ends With Suspect's Arrest: CMPD

The SWAT team was called to the west Charlotte home after the suspect, who police said was connected to a shooting, refused to come out.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A man wanted on multiple violent felony arrests warrants was arrested Wednesday morning following a three-hour standoff, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said.

The warrants were in connection to a recent shooting, according to police.

CMPD's Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team was called to the scene in the 2800 block of Old Steele Creek Road in west Charlotte before 8 a.m., after the suspect refused to leave the residence.

During the standoff, residents were told to avoid the area, WSOC reported.

Following nearly three hours, the SWAT team used de-escalation techniques and took the suspect into custody around 10:40 a.m., CMPD said.

CMPD said anyone with information about this case is asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
