CATS Train Strikes Vehicle That Drove Through Crossing Arms: Cops

A CATS train struck a vehicle that traveled through closed crossing arms, per police.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A CATS train traveling northbound struck a vehicle on Pineville Road, according to Charlotte Mecklenburg Police.

Police say both rail crossing arms were down. "The vehicle was coming out of a parking lot at 4500 Old Pineville Road and attempted to go around the crossing arms and was struck by the train," CMPD said in a statement.

A person in the vehicle left the scene, per police.

All injuries are non life-threatening. CMPD's Major Crash Unit is investigating.

"Please remember to stop when railroad crossing arms are down. Do not proceed for your own safety never drive around crossing arms that are down," CMPD added in their statement.
