An innovative way to cope with chronic migraine (thecharlottepost.com) — Charlotte residents with hard-to-treat chronic migraines can now volunteer for a national clinical trial of a tiny implanted device that stimulates nerves under the scalp to reduce headache days. Led locally by Queen City Clinical Research, the FDA-supervised study is still experimental, but early results suggest it may cut monthly migraine days in half for eligible participants.

2. Charlotte man arrested after drugs found in car, hotel room, CMPD says (wsoctv.com) — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say a recent traffic stop on Arrowood Road led them to a nearby hotel room, where they seized multiple types of suspected illegal drugs and cash. A 41-year-old Charlotte man now faces several trafficking and distribution-related charges as investigators detail the large quantities of methamphetamine, GHB, and other substances recovered.

A Powerball player in the Charlotte area is holding a ticket worth $2 million (charlotteobserver.com) — If you bought a Powerball ticket at Charlotte’s Landing in Charlotte Douglas International Airport, you might be holding a $500,000 winner from Saturday’s drawing. Another ticket sold at a Gastonia Food Lion hit for $2 million, and no one claimed the $1.1 billion jackpot, which rolls to the next drawing Monday night.

Causey: Charlotte man charged in Wake County roofing scam sting (wakeweekly.com) — A Charlotte resident working for a roofing company has been charged in a statewide insurance-fraud sting after investigators say he helped stage roof damage on a Wake County home to support a false $30,000 claim. State insurance officials say the two‑month operation, aided by North Carolina Farm Bureau, used a “bait house” and surveillance to target alleged roofing scams affecting homeowners’ premiums.
