• Crews battle flames at southeast Charlotte fire (wsoctv.com) — Firefighters quickly contained a Saturday morning blaze at a former tire shop on the 2100 block of North Sharon Amity Road in southeast Charlotte, with no injuries reported. Crews had visible flames on arrival but knocked the fire down in about 20 minutes, and investigators are still working to determine the cause.
   

• Charlotte roofing contractor arrested in insurance fraud sting (wbtv.com) — A Charlotte roofing contractor has been arrested on felony charges after state investigators say he joined a scheme to damage a roof and support a fraudulent $30,000 insurance claim. The two-month sting, announced by North Carolina’s insurance commissioner, used a bait house and surveillance to target alleged roof-damage scams affecting insurers and homeowners statewide.
