Mecklenburg Pre-K Program Accepting Applications
Space is limited, so the county recommends parents apply for pre-k as soon as possible.
CHARLOTTE, NC — Mecklenburg (MECK) Pre-K is taking applications for the 2022-2023 academic year, according to county officials.
Families with children who will be four years old on or before August 31 are encouraged to apply now at MeckPreK.org. Families whose children are too young for this year can join Meck Pre-K’s email list so they can be notified about future enrollment.
MECK Pre-K is a free pre kindergarten education for four-year-olds in Mecklenburg County. It is administered by Smart Start of Mecklenburg County and funded by Mecklenburg County.

Classes are taught by licensed teachers and teacher assistants at four and five-star child development centers. Some offer transportation and before or afterschool care. Families can select their preferred locations when they apply.
