Police Searching For Man Who Tried To Run Over Officer: Cops

Officers fired a shot at the person who tried to run an officer over, according to police. They don't believe they hit the person.

CHARLOTTE, NC — An officer-involved shooting happened Wednesday at the 7900 block of Nations Ford Road, according to police.

Steele Creek officers were patrolling in search of a vehicle that was recently reported as being taken off of Farmhurst Dr. without permission from the vehicle’s owner, police say. Officers identified a vehicle that matched that same description of the victim’s vehicle at an extended stay motel, and an officer matched the VIN to the car while other officers were speaking to the two occupants inside the vehicle.

At one point, police say the passenger exited from the car and left the scene. Then, police say things escalated, and the driver tried to run over one officer instead of being detained.
