20 Most Popular Baby Names in Ohio: 2015

Urban, Woody, and Earle did not make the list of popular baby names bestowed on the Ohio newborns of 2015.

The most popular names in for 2015's newborns in Ohio were Emma and Ava, according to the Social Security Administration.

Nationally, Noah was the most given name for boys, and Emma the most given name for girls. Emma was the first most given name for girls in Ohio.

Every year, the Social Security Administration uses applications for social security cards to rank the most popular baby names. Noah has been the most popular boy name for the last three years, Emma for the last two for girls. The top three girls names remained unchanged from 2014 to 2015, and the top five boys names stayed the same over that span. The data was released May 12.

Few parents seem to be naming their children after some of the most notable figures in the Buckeye state. Urban, Woody, and Earle did not make the top 100 given names (however, Braxton was number 55). Old standbys such as William, Michael, Benjamin, and Jacob, did, however, ensuring our schools will always have a Bill, Mike, Ben, and a Jake.
