Black Keys on Steve Miller's Rock Hall Induction: 'He really disappointed us.'
The Black Keys inducted Steve Miller into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but now regret it.

The Black Keys inducted Steve Miller into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and things didn't go as they had expected. In fact, Black Keys guitarist, Dan Auerbach told Rolling Stone in an interview that they now regret inducting him.
Steve Miller pulled no punches when expressing his displeasure with the Rock Hall and the music industry. Miller complained about the number of tickets offered to him (2), said the Rock Hall was somehow cheating him on licensing, called the whole production amateur, and even said the music industry was nothing but "f@#kin' gangsters and crooks"
Auerbach told Rolling Stone that he and Pat (Carney) were very disappointed in Miller and that he had lost sleep over the past four days. He said that he wanted to explain their side of the story.

Auerbach said that things went poorly from the beginning when it became apparent that Steve Miller had no idea who the Black Keys were. Miller started things off by telling them "I can't wait to get out of here."
Auerbach explained that they thought that the event would be about "celebrating his achievements and spreading the joy of rock & roll. To inspire kids to pick up guitars. To play music. And it felt like we were doing the opposite," he added, "I hated the feeling in my gut of being connected to that negativity."

Unlike Steve Miller, Auerbach had many positive things to say about the Rock Hall. He told Rolling Stone that he used to go to the Rock Hall as a teenager with his dad for workshops and it bought him nothing but joy. Because of the positive experiences, when asked to participate in the induction, he not only wanted to do it for Steve Miller, but also for the Rock Hall.
Dan Auerbach and Pat Carney of the Black Keys have Cleveland/Akron roots and Carney recently threw out the first pitch for the Indians home opener.
