COVID-19 In Ohio: 3,235 New Cases, Summer Hospitalization Record

Ohio set a new single-day record for coronavirus-related hospitalizations on Tuesday.

COLUMBUS, OH — More than 200 Ohioans suffering from COVID-19 were admitted to hospitals on Tuesday, setting a new summer record for most hospitalizations in a day, the state health department announced.

Over the past 24 hours, the state health department has confirmed 3,235 new COVID-19 cases among Ohioans and 220 coronavirus hospitalizations throughout the state.

Hospitalizations and deaths tend to lag behind surges in new cases, which is why Ohio had been averaging nearly 2,000 new cases, but only 90 COVID-19 hospitalizations per day.
