Damaging Winds, Thunderstorms Possible Soon In Ohio: Forecast

There is also a slim chance of flooding and an isolated tornado on Thursday, the National Weather Service said.

CLEVELAND — Damaging thunderstorms are likely to sweep into Northeast Ohio on Wednesday and Thursday, the National Weather Service said.

Precipitation could begin overnight on Wednesday, according to current forecasts.

"Showers and thunderstorms are expected to approach the area from the northwest after midnight. A few thunderstorms may be strong with wind gusts approaching severe limits. All showers and storms will be associated with heavy rainfall, which may lead to isolated flash flooding," the agency said.

Storms are likely to continue throughout Thursday, bringing a possibility for more flooding, downed tree limbs and even a tornado. Severe thunderstorms warnings may be issued on Thursday, depending on the severity of the storms.

"Primary threat will be strong and damaging winds, however hail and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Storms will again have heavy rainfall, which may lead to flash flooding," the National Weather Service said.

Conditions should improve on Friday. A dry, sunny day with temperatures in the mid-70s should conclude the work week, forecasts suggest. There is a slim chance of rain returning over the weekend.
