Fire at American Greetings Brooklyn HQ Causes Evacuation

Fire breaks out at American Greetings, part of building still off limits.

BROOKLYN, Ohio -- A fire in the kitchen area of American Greetings' world headquarters prompted the evacuation of all employees in the Brooklyn, Ohio facility reports wkyc.com

American Greetings Director of Communications, Patrice Sadd told wkyc.com that American Greeting employs 1,700 people at the Brooklyn location, and they were "thrilled that everyone is safe and evacuated the building."

Sadd said that there is still a part of the building that is currently off limits while the fire is being investigated. She also said that employees have been given the option to work from home and that "Business will resume as normal tomorrow."

Sadd added that the fire should not have any impact on the company's move to a new location at Crocker Park in Westlake.
