Here are the top three stories today in Cleveland:

  1. Ohio has identified over 800 buildings - 375 of which are in Cleveland - to be demolished. Using state funding, vacant and damaged structures across 30 counties will be destroyed as part of the Ohio Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program. This program intends to spur economic development by removing aging and vacant buildings to make way for new projects. The decision was announced on Friday. (cleveland.com)
  2. The Flats at the East Bank entertainment area along the Cuyahoga River has gone up for sale. Agents working to sell the property in downtown Cleveland for around $100 million. The Flats at The East Bank houses several restaurants as well as 240 apartments. Officials are hoping this will energize the area. (cleveland.com)
  3. A Cleveland woman who pled guilty to participating in the January 2021 riots at the Capitol Building was sentenced on Friday. Christine Priola was sentenced to 15 months in prison by a federal judge. After her release, she will have one year of supervised control. Priola wrote a letter to the judge before her sentencing, expressing grief and remorse for her involvement. (Cleveland 19 News)
