Phone Outage in Lakewood, Rocky River, Fairview Park, Police and Fire Calling Info
A widespread phone outage impacting cities on Cleveland's west side including Lakewood, Rocky River and Fairview Park.

A major phone outage is creating phone problems for customers on Cleveland's west side. As of 7:45pm, University Hospitals Parma Medical Center, UH Parma Hospice and UH Parma Health Education Center were unable to take or receive calls reports newsnet5. Hospital officials are asking family members and patients to use personal cell phones to communicate.
Rocky River, Lakewood, and Fairview Park are experiencing outages due to issues with Cox Communications. Regional cell phone 911 service is still available, however, phone service for fire and police in Rocky River and Fairview Park is not working.
Rocky River police or fire can be reached using (440) 331-1212 for emergency use only. Fairview Park is requesting that callers hang up and call 911 if they receive a busy signal.
The City of Lakewood says that police and fire phone service is not affected.
The problem is much worse for those in the New York City area, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
A widespread outage of a national fiber provider is impacting customers of Cox and other providers. They are currently working to resolve.
