ICYMI: Sunny Spot Lounge Owner Says Bar Is Not a Nuisance, City's Claim is 'a bunch of lies'
City officials say the Sunny Spot Lounge is a nuisance while a promotional video says it is suitable for birthday parties and baby showers.

The Sunny Spot Lounge in Cleveland Heights has been closed since a shooting that killed 24-year-old Dejon D. Forbes. City officials have called the bar/restaurant a "danger to the surrounding community" and are doing what they can to have the bar closed permanently.
Court proceedings took place on Monday and Tuesday where Judge Jose A. Villanueva granted a temporary restraining order to close the bar. The Sunny Spot Lounge will remain closed until the matter is resolved in court, reports Cleveland.com.
The owner of the bar, Janice Walker, disagrees. In court on Tuesday, Walker responded to the nuisance allegation by saying "It's a fabrication, a bunch of lies."

The Cleveland Heights Police Department disagreed with Walker and provided documentation showing that they have responded to calls at the bar over 90 times for matters including gunshots, assaults, noise disturbances and more. Police testified that they are called to the Sunny Spot Lounge more than any other bar in the area.
Walker claims that in 30 years she has only seen one argument that resulted in a patron being forced to leave the bar. Attorneys representing the bar's owners said that the police were unfairly targeting the bar and its patrons according the Cleveland.com.
