University of Akron President, Scott Scarborough Resigns
University of Akron President, Scott Scarborough is no longer with the university, effective immediately.

University of Akron President Scott Scarborough is no longer with the university reports the Akron Beacon Journal.
The UA board of trustees and board president announced Tuesday morning that they had come to a mutual agreement after an emergency meeting to end the University of Akron's relationship with Scarborough, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.
“The board is charged with ensuring the effective governance, leadership and management of the university and, along with Dr. Scarborough, determined that new leadership is needed for the university to move forward and achieve sustained success in the future,” board President Jonathon Pavloff said in a prepared statement. “The board will conduct a rigorous and thorough search for a permanent president with the experience and qualities it believes are necessary to lead the University of Akron.”

Scarborough was named University of Akron President on May 8th, 2014 and was one of three finalists, one of which was current Youngstown State University President, Jim Tressel. Scarborough's two-year history with the university could best be described as rocky. He received criticism for many things, including questionable marketing decisions, tuition policies and calling the school “Ohio’s polytechnic university.”
In a prepared statement, Scarborough said,

“I am honored to have had the opportunity to serve this great university and work not only to address the challenges that were before it when I arrived, but also to begin the process of change that is necessary for the university to succeed in the rapidly changing environment of higher education.”
Interim provost, Rex Ramsier will be serving as interim president while the university searches for Scarborough's replacement.
