Ohio Connections Academy Recognizes Dayton Student

Caitlin Johnson of Dayton, was recently named one of Ohio Connections Academy’s(OCA) Star Students of the Month for December in recognition of her hard work and leadership in the online classroom.

Caitlin, a second grader at the statewide online public charter school, was nominated by her teacher Mrs. Baker, because of her hard work and the positive energy she brings to class.

As a Star Student, Caitlin will be presented a certificate recognizing her achievement and be profiled in Ohio Connections Academy’s student newsletter and on the school’s social media platforms. Each month during the school year OCA will recognize students in grades K through 12 who are excelling in the virtual classroom.

“The faculty, staff and members of the board at Ohio Connections Academy are proud to recognize students like Caitlin and the commitment they demonstrate to our school and their community,” said OCA Superintendent Marie Hanna. “Each of our Star Students is a leader in the classroom and demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to learning – they truly deserve this recognition.”

Caitlin came to Ohio Connections Academy this year because her parents wanted their children to be in an individualized learning environment that met their specific needs. According to Caitlin, she likes her Math and Art classes and especially enjoys participating during their LiveLessons. She also likes having the flexibility to manage her own schedule.

“I love Ohio Connections Academy because I don’t have to get up super early and I can do school from the comfort of home,” Caitlin said.
