Prosecutors say evidence places Conner on West Fairview Avenue during the barrage of gunfire, while his defense questions motive and urges jurors to consider reasonable doubt.

Kettering appliance store englufed inflames calls for firefighter response (dayton247now.com) — Firefighters responded early Monday to a blaze at Prestige Home Furnishings on South Dixie Drive in Kettering, where smoke was seen coming from the building and crews worked to knock down hot spots. Investigators have not yet determined a cause, and Dayton 24/7 Now says more details will be shared as they become available.

Ohio-shot heist film starring Josh O'Connor makes Dayton premiere Friday (wdtn.com) — Dayton film fans can catch the Ohio-shot heist movie “The Mastermind” when it opens at The Neon on Friday, Dec. 19. Directed by Kelly Reichardt and filmed largely in Cincinnati, the 1970s-set story follows an unemployed carpenter whose first art heist goes disastrously wrong, and features stars Josh O’Connor, Alana Haim, and Hope Davis.

4. Cincinnati man sentenced to 7 years for running Dayton chop shop (wdtn.com) — Federal prosecutors say a Cincinnati man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for running a $1.5 million stolen-vehicle chop shop based in Dayton. Investigators allege he disassembled stolen cars here, moved vehicles across several states, and was caught after trying to re-steal one already recovered by police.

Results 12/15: Faust buzzer beater gives Greenon girls win (daytondailynews.com) — High school athletes across the Dayton area turned in big performances Monday night, highlighted by Cassidy Faust’s buzzer-beating three that lifted Greenon’s girls over Northwestern in overtime.
