Ohio Connections Academy Recognizes Dayton Student

Ezra Vicente of Dayton, was recently named one of Ohio Connections Academy’s (OCA) Star Students of the Month for March in recognition of his hard work and leadership in the online classroom.

Ezra, a Kindergartner at the statewide online public charter school, was nominated by his teacher, Mrs. Salinas, because of his hard work and the enthusiasm for learning he brings to the classroom.

As a Star Student, Ezra will be presented a certificate recognizing his achievement and be profiled in Ohio Connections Academy’s student newsletter and on the school’s social media platforms. Each month during the school year OCA will recognize students in grades K through 12 who are excelling in the virtual classroom.

“The faculty, staff and members of the board at Ohio Connections Academy are proud to recognize students like Ezra and the commitment they demonstrate to our school and their community,” said OCA Superintendent Marie Hanna. “Each of our Star Students is a leader in the classroom and demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to learning – they truly deserve this recognition.”

According to Ezra’s mother Nicole, they homeschooled Ezra since he was 3 years old. They chose to enroll him in Ohio Connections Academy so they could continue to be closely involved his academic experience with a challenging curriculum and teachers who offer the time and attention needed to succeed.

“The Pearson curriculum is thorough and just what we needed,” Nicole said. “I love the flexibility of the program, which allows me to spend the appropriate time where I see needed. I love Connections Academy because it gives our family the freedom to learn and live life.”

Virtual school is a great fit for a variety of students and each student is unique.
