2. Firefighting foam/PFAS use would be extended under new defense bill (daytondailynews.com) — Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton could face more PFAS contamination if a new defense bill extends the military’s use of firefighting foam containing “forever chemicals,” even as the same bill pushes faster cleanup and safer drinking water. The base is already a national test case for PFAS treatment systems, with wells and trenches working year-round to capture and filter the chemicals.

5. Trotwood cannabis shop files suit over alleged illegal search; city responds (wdtn.com) — A Trotwood cannabis shop is suing the city over what it claims was an illegal 2024 police search that seized about $700,000 in products and cash, with the city firmly denying wrongdoing. Reported from Dayton, the case questions whether THC products were ever tested as police said, and could shape how similar businesses across the area interact with law enforcement.
