Kettering Health Centers named 2026 High Performing hospitals for maternity care (spectrumnews1.com) — Expectant parents in the Dayton area may want to note that Kettering Health Main Campus and Soin Medical Care have been named 2026 High Performing hospitals for maternity care by U.S. News & World Report. Kettering is consolidating Soin’s obstetric services into larger maternity centers but says its award-winning standards, breastfeeding support, and education programs will continue across the system.

2. MVCAP offers winter heating assistance (wdtn.com) — If you’re in Dayton or Montgomery County and worried about winter heating shutoffs, Miami Valley Community Action Partnership is now scheduling Winter Crisis appointments at its South Main Street office. Income-eligible residents across Darke, Greene, Montgomery, and Preble counties can get help stopping disconnections, setting up new service, or refilling low fuel supplies, with both in-person and phone appointments available.

3. Ohio allocates $18.7 million to combat homelessness statewide (dayton247now.com) — Dayton-area residents should know that Montgomery County is receiving more than $580,000 from Ohio’s new $18.7 million homelessness grant package, with funds flowing to groups like Homefull, YWCA Dayton, and Artemis House. The money will bolster re-housing, housing search, and emergency shelter services as local agencies face rising demand and tighter budgets.

4. Air Force Museum unveils two new exhibits (wdtn.com) — Dayton’s National Museum of the U.S. Air Force is showcasing a rare Soviet MiG-25 in its Cold War Gallery through March 2026, giving locals a close look at a once-feared interceptor. Later this month, the museum also opens “Drawn to Combat,” a special art exhibit on Bill Mauldin’s wartime cartoons, running into March 2026.

5. ADL says bots can be tricked into antisemitism — if you feed them a really elaborate prompt (forward.com) — Researchers tested how easily AI chatbots could be pushed into giving antisemitic or dangerous answers, including when asked for synagogue and gun store locations in Dayton. The study found many open-source models still produced harmful or risky responses, prompting the Anti-Defamation League to call for stronger safety rules and government oversight of AI tools.
