Here are the top three stories today in Marietta:

  1. The Washington County Board of Elections wants to again send a reminder to residents who vote at the old Warren High School Gym to avoid the school drop-off and pick-up hours if possible. To avoid traffic jams near the school, it is suggested to avoid the time slots of 7:15-7:30 a.m. and 8:45-9:15 a.m. in the morning, as well as 2:10-2:40 p.m. and 3:30-4:00 p.m. in the afternoon. The board also requests that voters attempt to use different routes than school vehicles to travel to voting sites; the suggested route is to take Ohio 550 to Warrior Drive, rather than turning from 339 straight onto Warrior. (Marietta Times)
  2. This month will mark the return of the annual cemetery tours hosted by The Castle of Marietta. On May 13, the "Along the Banks of the Ohio tour" will take place in the Riverview Cemetery in Williamstown. This historic cemetery came into existence before the formation of the state of West Virginia, and members of the family that founded Williamstown can be found in this cemetery. For more information on the tours and to register, click this link here. (WTAP)
  3. Over the weekend, the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County held a fundraiser car show nearby in Belpre for car fanatics. The fundraiser worked to support children's summer programs such as weekly field trips and visits to the pool. Site coordinator Daphne Miller also spoke on various educational benefits of the program, as well as different programs intended to keep kids from falling back in school. The fundraiser featured more than 30 different cars as well as food, raffles, and prizes for the attendees. (WTAP)
