  1. Last week, the Appalachian Ohio Manufacturers' Coalition debuted its brand new center that's located at Marietta's Broughton Industrial Park. The opening consisted of more than 200 people in attendance and included a ribbon-cutting ceremony that featured different speakers and a tour of the building. The purpose of this new center will focus on providing customized training programs for businesses, as well as additional resources that will increase manufacturing growth in the region.   2. Paddle for Heroes completed their seventh annual 160-mile kayak trip on Thursday afternoon as veterans, first responders, and their supporters officially docked in Marietta. This non-profit organization is focused on encouraging veterans and first responders to get involved with recreational kayaking and canoeing, as well as bringing more awareness to the mental health struggles these individuals deal with.   3. In a recent press release, Marietta Noon Rotary Club announced that their project to revamp how stormwater is collected at Marietta's Humane Society has been completed. This new system will now allow the rainwater that's coming off of the building to be harvested and added to the city's existing water supply. According to city officials, this new initiative will help save up to $5,000. (Subscription: Marietta Times)

  • REMINDER - On Saturday, Jun. 17, the Humane Society of Ohio Valley will be hosting a cat adoption event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at their headquarters in Marietta. According to the shelter, adoption fees will be lowered to $20 and there will be several cats on site for attendees to take home. (Subscription: Marietta Times)
  • The Mid-Ohio Valley Players will finish up their 2022-23 season with the world premiere of Abernathy in Marietta on Friday, Jun. 16. The show is a comedy that follows a theater group as they prepare to present a new play celebrating the town and its history, so if you're interested in purchasing tickets, visit here.   • On Saturday, Jun. 17, Marietta Main Street is hosting its Hidden Places Secret Spaces event where attendees have permission to visit areas in historic buildings that are normally off-limits.
