Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:
- Four Marietta College students were honored for their academic excellence by the Parkersburg chapter of the West Virginia Society of CPAs. The four students — David Fruner, Ethan Brooker, Kya Forker, and Brett Gandee — were chosen by Marietta’s accounting faculty to be recognized. The students, who are in Marietta College’s accounting and public accounting programs, were honored at the annual Student Recognition Night. (WV News)
- The Marietta Community Foundation recognized its three award winners for 2022. Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Co., in partnership with the Spartan Foundation, was named the Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year 2022 in Business for its philanthropic contributions. In addition, Dale and Jean Leeper were named as Outstanding Philanthropists of the Year, and Washington County 4-H was recognized as the Outstanding Nonprofit of the Year. (Parkersburg News)
- The City of Marietta has released a request for a proposal for a first responder crisis counselor program. According to the city, the services should be offered face-to-face, virtually, or in combination and encompass issues including emotional, financial, marital, and medical stressors. The submission deadline is Dec. 9 at 11:00 a.m.; the question submission deadline is Dec. 6 at 11:00 a.m. (Marietta OH)
