Ward representatives Michael Scales, Erin O’Neill, and Bret Allphin are leaving council, with their successors set to be sworn in on January 1 before a 10 a.m. meeting that same day.

Traffic Fatality Review details automobile accident stats in Washington County (newsandsentinel.com) — A recent Traffic Fatality Review meeting held in Marietta shared sobering 2025 crash statistics and urged Washington County drivers to buckle up, especially during the busy holiday season. Local and state agencies reported dozens of unbelted crashes in Washington and Morgan counties, many involving teens, and stressed that most serious injuries and deaths on local roads are preventable with simple safety steps.

Hidden Hills, Farmers Castle recognized at Heritage Luncheon (mariettatimes.com) — Local organizations tied to the Marietta-Washington County Convention & Visitors Bureau are earning statewide recognition for preserving history and boosting tourism. Hidden Hills Orchard near Marietta and Belpre’s Farmers Castle Museum were honored at the Appalachia Heritage Luncheon for their work in agriculture, Underground Railroad interpretation, and community education that draws visitors to Washington County.
   

4. Deven J. Grosklos (patch.com) — Family and friends in Marietta are mourning the unexpected passing of 23-year-old Deven Joseph Grosklos, who was born in Marietta and attended Marietta High School. Remembered for his warm spirit, love of music and sports, and close family bonds, his loved ones plan a celebration of life to be announced later, with arrangements handled by Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home.
