  1. It's time to get into the holiday spirit! Visit Marietta Ohio is searching for entries for the 2022 Merry-Etta Tour of Lights. This holiday guided light tour will take place from Dec. 1 to Dec. 31. Residents and guests can vote on their favorite displays through an online vote, and the winners will be announced on Jan. 6. Enter your home, business, or church for free by calling the Visitors Bureau at (740) 373-5178 before Nov. 23! (Visit Marietta Ohio via Facebook)
  2. The National Transportation Safety Board has released its preliminary report on the fatal plane crash that occurred in Marietta last month on Oct. 18. The flight originated from John Glenn Columbus International Airport in Columbus and was headed to the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport in Parkersburg. Eric Seevers of Parkersburg and Timothy Gifford of Orient, Ohio were killed when multiple eyewitnesses saw the plane flying straight and then take a deep descent into the ground, catching fire. There were no reports of mechanical failure, and it is unknown if icy conditions caused the crash, as the anti-icing system was consumed in the plane fire. (WTAP)
