Washington County COVID-19 Update
The Marietta/Belpre Health Department and Washington County Health Department share the latest information on COVID-19.

MARIETTA, OH — According to the Ohio Department of Health dashboard, Washington County has 6,976 COVID-19 cases, 281 hospitalizations, (not including an additional 30 hospitalizations that were reported without a date of admission), and 119 deaths to date.

Please note, deaths are not reported on the dashboard until verified mortality data is reported via the Electronic Death Registration System. Washington County has 1,165 active cases. Due to the enormous surge in cases, contact tracing and monitoring is severely limited. Washington County is ranked as the 12th county for the highest case rates in Ohio at 1266.9 cases per 100,000 in the last two weeks. Washington County's COVID-19 positivity rate is 33.2%, the worst in all of Ohio. Washington County continues with a “high transmission” rate of COVID-19.

Avoid poorly ventilated spaces
Wear a mask
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing
Clean hands often with soap and water lather and scrub for at least 20 seconds
Avoid close contact with people who are sick
Quarantine if you are exposed to COVID
Isolate when you are sick except to get medical care
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
Clean and disinfect frequently touched item
Get vaccinated when it's your turn
Monitor your health daily
Vaccination is the best tool we have to protect you and the public against COVID-19. The COVID-19 vaccines continue to protect most people against severe illness, hospitalizations, and death. COVID-19 vaccines are widely available, several local sites are offering walk-ins in addition to appointments. Everyone 12 years of age and older is eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccination.
According to the Ohio Department of Health Vaccination Dashboard, 47.10% of Washington County residents and 53.22% of Ohioans received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 43.47% of Washington County residents and 49.24% of Ohioans received all CDC recommended doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
