Here are the top three stories today in Toledo:
- The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department is trying to help families with children have an easier back to school transition. The county is offering a walk-in immunization clinic through the "Shots 4 Tots n Teens" program where staff will check to see if each child is up-to-date on their required shots for school/daycare. While all insurance will be accepted for the immunizations, no child will be turned away whose family does not have insurance and cannot pay the $21.25 per shot fee. Additional resources are also being offered to families by the county. (Subscription: Toledo Blade)
- The University of Toledo's enrollment dropped by 8.6 percent this year. Last fall, the university has 17,070 undergraduate and graduate students enroll; that number has dropped to 15,603 for this year. University President Dr. Gregory Postel said, “Enrollment has been a challenge at UToledo for a number of years." (Subscription: Toledo Blade)
- The old Mott Branch Library on Dorr Street has been rezoned for Compassion Health Toledo's second clinic location. The Dorr Street building reportedly needs a $500 million renovation before the clinic can open in 2023 as planned. Vanice Williams, Toledo City Council, District 4, said, “I do believe the neighborhood needs something there.” (WTVG)
