1. TPS employees sorting out details amid district plan to cut 100-plus jobs (toledoblade.com subscription) — Toledo Public Schools is moving ahead with a state-required recovery plan that immediately cuts more than 100 staff positions and delays opening the new Scott Park University campus until 2027. Union leaders say many employees are just now learning their fate, while administrators stress vacancies, bumping rights, and support services will soften the blow. More reductions, school repurposing, and changes to transportation and athletics are still on the table.
   

2. ODOT, city of Toledo drop plans for diverging diamond on Secor at I-475 (toledoblade.com subscription) — Toledo has dropped plans for a diverging-diamond redesign of the Secor Road interchange at I-475, opting for a conventional layout to reduce costs and neighborhood impacts. ODOT still plans to widen and rebuild I-475 through West Toledo starting in 2028, while partnering with Metroparks Toledo and local nurseries to provide hundreds of free trees to residents along the corridor.
   

3. IAM Local 1297 approves contract with Libbey Glass (13abc.com) — Workers at Toledo’s Libbey Glass have ended their 18-week strike after IAM Local 1297 members approved a new contract with immediate raises, a $3,000 bonus, and protected health benefits. Union leaders praised Toledo-area community support while noting that United Steelworkers, who joined the August walkout, have not yet confirmed whether their strike has ended.
   

4. ECHL players union issues strike notice (wtol.com) — A potential ECHL players’ strike could soon sideline the Toledo Walleye, as their union has formally notified the league that members plan to walk out Friday over pay, rest, and working conditions. Negotiations continue, but both sides warn a work stoppage could postpone games and leave players temporarily unpaid while they push for better health, safety, and salary protections.
