Ohio Connections Academy Recognizes Toledo Student

Leena Aburahmeh of Toledo was recently named one of Ohio Connections Academy’s (OCA) Star Students of the Month for November in recognition of her hard work and leadership in the online classroom.

Leena, a sixth grader at the statewide online public charter school, was nominated by her teacher, Ms. Tallet, because of her hard work and the outstanding attitude towards learning she brings to class.

As a Star Student, Leena will be presented with a certificate recognizing her achievement and be profiled in Ohio Connections Academy’s student newsletter and on the school’s social media platforms. Each month during the school year OCA will recognize students in grades K through 12 who are excelling in the virtual classroom.

“The faculty, staff and members of the board at Ohio Connections Academy are proud to recognize students like Leena and the commitment they demonstrate to our school and their community,” said OCA Superintendent Marie Hanna. “Each of our Star Students is a leader in the classroom and demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to learning – they truly deserve this recognition.”

Leena chose to enroll in Ohio Connections Academy in 2019 after attending a traditional public school. She considers it the best decision she’s ever made. Among the things she appreciates about OCA include the supportive teachers, the relationships she has established with students from all over the state, and the flexibility to work and learn at a pace that meets her individual needs.

“The teachers are always willing to listen to my thoughts and ideas and provide assistance whenever I needed clarification or guidance,” Leena said. “Their positive feedback always made my day and helped me stay motivated.”

Virtual school is a great fit for a variety of students and each student is unique. Those who attend Ohio Connections Academy come from different backgrounds and choose full-time online school for various reasons.
