Ohio Connections Academy Recognizes Toledo Student

Aaliviah Kynard of Toledo was recently named one of Ohio Connections Academy’s (OCA) Star Students of the Month for December in recognition of her hard work and leadership in the online classroom.

Aaliviah, a third grader at the statewide online public charter school, was nominated by her teacher, Mrs. Spreng, because of her hard work and outstanding participation in class.

As a Star Student, Aaliviah will be presented with a certificate recognizing her achievement and be profiled in Ohio Connections Academy’s student newsletter and on the school’s social media platforms. Each month during the school year OCA will recognize students in grades K through 12 who are excelling in the virtual classroom.

“The faculty, staff and members of the board at Ohio Connections Academy are proud to recognize students like Aaliviah and the commitment they demonstrate to our school and their community,” said OCA Superintendent Marie Hanna. “Each of our Star Students is a leader in the classroom and demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to learning – they truly deserve this recognition.”

According to Aaliviah’s mother Brittney, they enrolled her in Ohio Connections Academy in 2020 so she could be more involved in her daughter’s academic journey. In addition, she appreciates the schedule flexibility and being able to keep her safe and healthy at home during the pandemic. She added that Aaliviah has amazing teachers.

“It's the perfect combination of public school and homeschool, we love OCA,” Brittney said.

Virtual school is a great fit for a variety of students and each student is unique.
