ProMedica shutters Flower Hospital obstetrics program (toledoblade.com subscription) — ProMedica has closed Flower Hospital’s obstetrics program, moving most of the team to ProMedica Toledo Hospital and consolidating OB services in the city. Leaders say the shift will strengthen inpatient care in Toledo and free up Flower, in Sylvania, to expand or add other medical services amid a $30 million upgrade.
   

2. Mercy Health to host toy drive for local children Dec. 12 (13abc.com) — Families in Toledo can donate new, unwrapped toys at Mercy Health’s St. Vincent Medical Center on Dec. 12 to support Seaway Marketplace’s toy giveaway for kids ages 2-12 on Dec. 20. Parents must register for the Seaway Marketplace event by Dec. 13, and all donations will directly support local children in nearby neighborhoods.
   

3. UToledo EMS Education Program closes after 35 years (13abc.com) — The University of Toledo’s EMS Education Program has shut down after 35 years, graduating its final five students this week. University officials cite low enrollment and the availability of other EMT and paramedic programs in northwest Ohio, while program leaders thanked Toledo-area partners for helping train thousands of first responders.
