Here are the top three stories in Toledo today:

  1. Toledo Police responded to a shooting incident in South Toledo on Monday around 11:20 a.m. The shooting took place following an altercation involving a stolen phone. The owners of the phone drove to the location in search of the missing phone and found a 17-year-old with their property, who admitted to stealing the phone. An altercation soon took place and multiple shots were fired. It is currently unknown who fired the gun and no injuries were reported. (WTOL)
  2. Toledo wants to hear from the community about the direction of the city. City officials have reportedly planned a series of public information sessions about current and future projects to improve the city, as well as ways to assist residents financially and economically. At the first meeting, city residents filled out surveys about what they wanted to see in future plans. The next planned sessions will take place on Sept. 26, Oct. 3, Oct. 17, and Oct. 24 at various local libraries. (WTOL)
  3. Shelley Laurell lost her sister, Rhonda Couch, in October 2020 to Ovarian Cancer. A foundation was started in Rhonda’s memory called the Mucinous Ovarian Cancer Coalition. This Sunday, Sept. 25, a special event at Whiteford StoneCo Community Park called “Walk 4 Hope” will raise money for the foundation. The event is also in honor of September being Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. (WTVG)
