University Of Toledo: New Surface Parking Lots To Open

The two new surface lots on the sites of the former parking garages torn down over the summer for safety are scheduled to open next week.

The new surface lot in Area 13 near the site of the former West Ramp Parking Garage will open for parking at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, and the new surface lot in Area 2 near the site of the former East Ramp Parking Garage will open Thursday, Nov. 11.

Phase 2 of the parking project also begins next week.

The existing surface lot in Area 13 on the northern side of the parking area will close temporarily starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, so crews can update the asphalt and striping, as well as add new lighting, curbed islands and sidewalks. It is expected to reopen by the end of November.

All vehicles need to be removed from the existing lot so construction can continue.

The existing surface lot in Area 2 on the western side of the parking area will close Thursday, Nov. 11, to undergo similar improvements, and it’s expected to reopen the first week of December.

The construction timeline may change due to the weather.
