The organization, serving Youngstown since 1893, is planning more emergency family rooms and transitional homes to meet rising housing needs. Leaders are now seeking community support to fund these expansions.

2. City of Youngstown sells South High Fieldhouse (wkbn.com) — Youngstown City Council has approved selling the former South High Fieldhouse site to Valley Christian for $64,000, clearing the way for a new athletic complex on the South Side. School leaders envision a football field, six-lane track, and a new entrance honoring the building’s history, with a $5 million project funded by an upcoming capital campaign.

3. AUS students express concerns with traffic light removal at city council meeting (wkbn.com) — Youngstown students from the Academy of Urban Scholars are urging City Council to keep a traffic light at Market Street and Auburndale and to make the area a designated school zone. 4. Holiday concert raises funds for food bank (vindy.com) — A free Holiday Concert of Giving at Youngstown’s Stambaugh Auditorium this Sunday at 2:30 p.m. will collect monetary donations for Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley.
