1. Boys & Girls Clubs of Youngstown Opens Renovated Building (businessjournaldaily.com) — Youngstown families will soon have access to a fully renovated Boys & Girls Clubs building on Oak Hill Avenue, reopening Monday with space for up to 150 kids. The upgraded facility now includes a computer lab, maker space, art room, digital arts area and improved entrance, all backed by strong support from Rotary, local officials and state funding.
   

2. Developer Anticipates Spring Groundbreaking for $3M Spec Building (businessjournaldaily.com) — A new 25,000-square-foot industrial building near Youngstown is slated to break ground this spring in Austintown, backed by a 60% tax abatement from Mahoning County and township leaders. The nearly $3 million Silica Road project, supported by a $500,000 JobsOhio grant, aims to attract new tenants and expand space for local businesses in a tight industrial market.
   

3. New web link provides needed info for residents of Youngstown 1st Ward (wfmj.com) — Residents of Youngstown’s 1st Ward now have a one-stop online page with housing help, key phone numbers, and direct contact information for local officials. Councilman Julius Oliver and the Economic Action Group created the “Love & Grit Mantra” link to quickly connect neighbors with city services, safety contacts, and other vital resources. It’s designed to make getting help in Youngstown faster and easier.
   

4. Women to lead Youngstown police, fire departments (vindy.com) — Youngstown will start 2026 with historic new leadership as Detective Sgt. Sharon Cole becomes the city’s first female police chief and Capt. Courtney Kelly its first female fire chief. Mayor‑elect Derrick McDowell says their appointments are part of a broader shakeup at City Hall aimed at strengthening public safety and city services for residents.
   

5. Altrusa Youngstown Reaches Book Donation Milestone (businessjournaldaily.com) — A Youngstown-based volunteer project has now redirected more than 20,000 donated books back into local homes, schools and agencies across Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties. Working with Youngstown Area Goodwill, Altrusa Youngstown volunteers sort and distribute free books to families, students, seniors and community partners, with plans to expand as demand grows.
