The United Nations General Assembly designates January 27 as International Holocaust Remembrance Day.  On this date in 1945, the concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated.  All member nations of the United Nations are encouraged to honor the victims of the Holocaust.  To learn more about how the United Nations recognizes this day visit the United Nations Holocaust Remembrance Day website.
