1 Killed, 1 Injured In Alcohol-Fueled Car Crash Sunday

Police say speed and alcohol were factors in the fatal two-car crash on SE Stark Street early Sunday that killed Perwin Moni.

PORTLAND, OR — One man was killed and another injured in a two-car crash in Southeast Portland early Sunday that police say was likely caused by speed and alcohol.

The injured man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver who was killed has been identified as 34-year-old Perwin Salvadore Moni.

The crash was first reported just after 12:30 a.m. Feb. 11. East Precinct officers were dispatched to the intersection of Southeast 122nd Avenue and Southeast Stark Street, where they found a white Chrysler PT Cruiser had collided with a dark grey Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Police say Moni was driving his Chrysler north on Southeast 122nd Avenue "at a high rate of speed" when he reportedly blew through a red light and struck the Jeep, which had been traveling west on Southeast Stark Street through a green light.

This is reportedly the fourth fatal crash investigated by the Major Crash Team this year.
