1. Holiday travel anxiety? Portland airport has therapy llamas and service dogs for that (opb.org) — If you’re flying through Portland International Airport this holiday season, you might spot therapy llamas and volunteer service dogs roaming the terminals to ease traveler stress. More than 20 canine teams visit year-round, while longtime therapy llamas Panda and Beni make special December appearances, offering selfies, snuggles, and collectible trading cards to passengers and airport staff alike.
   

2. Legacy Health and unionized workers reach tentative agreement (kgw.com) — Legacy Health’s advanced practice providers in Portland have reached a tentative contract that could end their month-long strike, with a vote scheduled between Dec. 26 and 27. The deal includes pay raises, better shift compensation, and a new committee to address workplace issues, but APPs will stay on the picket lines unless members ratify it.
   

3. Portland Street Response: ‘Challenges don't stop during the holidays' (koin.com) — Portland Street Response teams were out on Christmas Day, quietly helping residents in mental health or housing crises across the city while much of Portland slowed down. The program, now operating seven days a week from 6 a.m. to midnight, is handling record call volumes and connecting people to shelter, medical care, and mental health support as it works toward 24-hour coverage.
   

4. Oregon judge orders shackles removed in courtroom after learning ICE detained wrong man (oregonlive.com) — A federal judge in Portland ordered the release of a Beaverton man after ruling that federal officers wrongly detained him and violated his due process rights. The man was taken to Portland’s ICE building after agents mistook him for another target, then kept him in custody despite realizing their error, prompting a strongly worded rebuke from the court.
   

5. Portland's Potluck in the Park serves hundreds at annual Christmas dinner (koin.com) — Volunteers with Potluck in the Park served a full Christmas dinner and handed out winter clothing to hundreds of people at the Fred and Suzanne Fields Ballroom in downtown Portland. The long-running effort, usually held outside the Portland Art Museum, now feeds nearly 1,300 guests and relies on more than 300 volunteers to offer food, clothing, and resource referrals.
