$2,500 Reward For Hit And Run Driver: Portland Police

Crime Stoppers of Oregon has offered a reward for help locating the Honda Pilot and driver that killed Njugana Githere.

PORTLAND, OR — Crime Stoppers of Oregon on Wednesday announced it was offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whomever is responsible for the hit and run death of 58-year-old Portlander Njugana Githere, who on Aug. 28 died from injuries he sustained after being struck on Aug. 25.

According to Portland police, Githere was crossing Northeast Sandy Boulevard around 10:30 p.m. when he was hit by a silver Honda Pilot near Northeast 20th Avenue. Previously, police officials suggested the Honda may have been racing another vehicle when the collision occurred.

After the collision, the Honda sped off and has not yet been located. The suspect vehicle was likely manufactured sometime between 2005 and 2008, police said. It should have visible damage to the passenger-side exterior mirror, passenger-side headlamp, and turn signal.
