Busted! Cops Nail 2 Dozen Speeders In Traffic Mission

PORTLAND, OR — A four-hour speed enforcement mission on Interstate-84 this past Saturday saw Multnomah County Sheriff's deputies pull over 37 drivers and issue 27 tickets for violations. The mission reportedly took place near the interchange of Interstates- 205 and 84.

Along with 14 warnings, deputies issued the following citations:

• 24 speeding tickets
• 1 seatbelt infraction
• 1 uninsured driver
• 1 expired registration

The warnings were for speeding as well as other violations, sheriff's officials said, noting that speed — according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration — was a major factor in 27 percent of all traffic fatalities in 2016, roughly 10,111 people.
