- Wednesday morning, Portland's Police Bureau responded to three shootings across the metro, with two victims dead. At 12:48 a.m., police responded to reports of a shooting at the 4400 block of Northeast 131st Place, where one person was found dead. Hours later, officers were called to another shooting in the 8400 block of North Exeter Avenue, where another man was found dead before they responded to a third shooting in the 6400 block of NE Lombard Street. - Portland teenager Anisha Dhoot wants to save the planet as she competes in the 3M Young Scientist Challenge. At 14 years old, she is one of 10 finalists in the U.S. and will present her project in October. Hosted in Minneapolis, the competition will take place from Oct. 9-10 and the winner will receive $25,000, a unique destination trip, and the title of America’s Top Young Scientist. (KXL)
- A fire destroyed a Northeast Portland building caused by fireworks being thrown into the building. According to Portland Fire & Rescue, the building caught fire just after midnight when crews responded. When they finally got the fire under control, the building was destroyed. (KOIN)
